Pymble’s Outdoor Education Continuum
Experiential outdoor learning at Vision Valley offers our students a sequential, outcomes-based outdoor learning continuum from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Kindergarten to Year 2
Nature Play
Our youngest girls are introduced to outdoor education with gentle, creative, discovery-based play and activities. This encourages them to get in touch with the bush environment and feel comfortable outdoors.
Years 2 and 3
First Overnight Experience
The girls experience team building, nature activities and unstructured play. This overnight experience in a new environment prepares students for the longer and more adventurous programs in the years to come.
Year 4, 5 and 6
Outdoor Skills Building
Building on their outdoor skills from K-3, students engage with more challenging outdoor learning opportunities that begin to push them outside of their comfort zone. Programs use adventure-based learning both here at Vision Valley and at exciting external sites to allow students to connect with their peers and natural environment.
Year 7
First Expedition
Over a five-day program, students hike and canoe through stunning bushland in the national parks surrounding Vision Valley and camp each night under the stars.
Year 8
An Expedition Adventure
This expedition-style camping program on the Colo River, involves bushwalking, canoeing, climbing, mud runs, obstacle courses, and team initiatives.
Year 9
Residential Program
The Year 9 Residential Program is the cornerstone of the Pymble Ladies’ College outdoor experiential education continuum.

Choose Your Adventure
Students can choose between two experiences: a five-day coastal adventure in Murramarang National Park or a nine-day ‘Namadji’ hiking expedition in Alpine National Park. The Murramarang adventure includes activities like bushwalking, kayaking, snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, and an indigenous immersion experience. For students seeking a challenge, the program offers a multi-day hiking trip to test their expedition skills.
Years 11-12
Adventure Extensions
Students have the opportunity to extend their immersion in the outdoors through a challenging multi-day journey expedition. A unique program is developed for students each year, from the Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory, to water-based journeys in New Zealand or trekking in Nepal.
