Pymble Ladies’ College is proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. The Award is a world-renowned youth development program that challenges young individuals to expand their horizons, develop new skills and engage in physical activities and community service. This award scheme, available to students aged 14 to 24, encourages them to set personal goals and achieve them through sustained effort and perseverance. Participating in The Duke of Ed benefits Pymble students by building their resilience, boosting their confidence and providing them with practical life skills that are invaluable for their future educational and career endeavours.

A Journey of Growth and Discovery

At Pymble, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. The program provides our students with the opportunity to set personal goals and undertake challenges in the areas of Voluntary Service, Skill, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey. Each of these components plays a crucial role in developing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

Aligning with Pymble’s Values

The core values of our College are integral to The Duke of Ed experience. The Award’s emphasis on community service is a direct reflection of our value of Care, encouraging students to contribute selflessly and develop empathy. Through their service, students understand the importance of giving back and the positive impact it can have on those around them.

The sections focused on Skill and Physical Recreation promote the development of Courage and Integrity. Whether our students are learning a new instrument, engaging in a sport, or participating in outdoor expeditions, they are consistently challenged to push their boundaries, build resilience, and uphold ethical behaviour in all endeavours. The rigorous nature of these activities teaches persistence and strength of character, vital attributes for their future success.

Through collaborative challenges and team-based adventures, students learn the importance of Respect within The Duke of Ed framework. These experiences foster a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and the ability to work harmoniously with others, reinforcing our commitment to a respectful and inclusive school culture.

Finally, the Adventurous Journey component encapsulates Responsibility, pushing students to plan, prepare and navigate through physically and mentally demanding scenarios. This section of the Award instils a sense of accountability, independence and decision-making skills that are essential for personal and academic growth.

Empowering Future Leaders

Participation in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award enables Pymble students to earn globally esteemed recognition while engaging in a transformative journey that aligns with our mission to develop pioneering leaders of the future. By embracing the challenges and opportunities presented by the Award, our students emerge as well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills, values, and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.

At Pymble Ladies’ College, The Duke of Ed is more than just a program; it is an integral part of our commitment to nurturing empathetic, courageous, and responsible individuals who are ready to lead and inspire change.
