The Pymble Institute provides students with a strong grounding in research mindsets and skills. We provide experiences and opportunities relating to research which supports progress through school, into university and hopefully into the years beyond.

Opportunities for students

Sokratis Research Project

The College Libraries and the Pymble Institute work in tandem to run the annual Sokratis Research Project, open to students from Year 4 to 11. Sokratis includes poster presentations and a Three Minute Thesis style competition.

College Ethics Committee

Students and staff work together in the College Ethics Committee which takes us behind the scenes into the structure of research projects and allows many voices to contribute to research decision making. Students hold the position of Chairperson and Applications Manager.

Perspective Student Research Journal

This annual journal reflects Pymble’s commitment to value and highlight student voice, and includes a range of dynamic student articles and essays that explore many fields of scholarly endeavour. A student editorial committee produces the journal.

Student Research Conference

Pymble’s annual Student Research Conference is an opportunity for students to share their research projects. Each year, there is a theme that guides the students’ research practice. We welcome keynote speakers to share their experience and expertise with staff and students.
