Pymble Foundation
As a leading girls’ school in Australia, we have the privilege of watching our Pymble students go on to change the world with unshakeable self-confidence. Since 1916, every one of these students has benefitted from the generosity of those who came before. Now in 2023, the Pymble Foundation, led by strong governance and vision and a desire to support the College in all future plans. We invite the Pymble community to learn more about the Pymble Foundation and partner with us to change the world together.
The Pymble community has assisted in elevating Pymble Ladies’ College to one of Australia’s most influential and innovative girls’ schools. With the dedication of parents, alumni, and friends of Pymble, we have accomplished excellence in education, remarkable teaching and learning facilities, and opportunities for our students who go on to change the world.
The Pymble Foundation is the opportunity for all in our community to play a vital role in Pymble’s future and make a real difference for future generations.
Ways you can support
Our community sets us apart and we are immensely grateful for any help extended to us. We greatly appreciate the generous gifts from our community and acknowledge that every contribution is vital to the future of both our College and our students. There are a variety of ways you can consider directing your support:
- Gifts to our Building Fund are eligible for tax deductions and contribute to our Masterplan projects, which aim to provide exceptional educational and co-curricular facilities, foster inspirational teaching and learning and promote our students’ holistic development in all aspects of their lives.
- Gifts to our Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible and will support our First Nation’s Scholarship Program or the Pymble Foundation Bursary Program (Means-tested Scholarships) . These programs offer life-changing opportunities to students who would otherwise be unable to attend our College.
- A gift in your will leaves a lasting benefit for the next generation of Pymble students.
Leading the Pymble Foundation with strong governance
The establishment of our Pymble Foundation and Board in November 2022 is the result of a great deal of research and work to ensure the College has the right governance, skills and oversight to lead and manage philanthropy among our Pymble community. At the core of our philanthropic aspirations lies our College vision and mission for our students, which of course is supported by our Strategic Direction 2021-2030: Watch Us Change the World.
The Pymble Foundation Board will focus on investment in the people, places and programs that will assist our students in their journey to become compassionate and influential young women who have the hearts, minds and skillset to make the world a better place. This includes new facilities and learning spaces on our two campuses, as well as bursaries (means-tested scholarships), which will enable our generous Pymble community to continue to give back to students who deserve, but may not be able to access, a world-class, life-changing education.
Our highly experienced Pymble Foundation Board is led by Chair, Simon Rothery and Deputy Chair, Rebecca Sullivan. Board members include David Burns, Melinda Graham, James Hunter, Li-Enn Koo, Yehan Koo and Alison Rothery. Together, the team brings many decades of expertise in financial governance, business, philanthropy and nurturing strong community relationships. Our Pymble Foundation Board members are also personally connected to the College as alumni or through their daughters and are excited by the opportunity to build a successful donor program that will contribute to the continued delivery of an exceptional educational experience at Pymble.
Support of the College represents not only confidence in current programs, but a belief in a collective future in which our girls and alumni contribute and succeed to change the world, for the better.
The Pymble Foundation carefully oversees and manages all donations to ensure maximum return on fundraising income and investments. All funds donated through the Pymble Foundation are safeguarded in separate accounts and allocated with care to the specific area of interest indicated by the donor.
Bequests
A bequest to Pymble Ladies’ College is an enduring gift that will make a difference beyond your lifetime. A bequest is usually an instruction contained in a will and specifically details part of the estate which is to be set aside for a particular beneficiary.
Types of bequests
There are many types of bequests that can be made to the College, including:
1. Financial sums of money, which may be a fixed amount of a percentage of an estate.
2. Assets such as property, paintings, shares, bonds etc.
Bequests can be both restricted and unrestricted depending on the wishes of the bequestor.
An unrestricted gift is usually directed to the Principal to be used at their discretion. Gifts made in this way enable the College to direct funds to projects which would benefit the most from financial assistance.
A restricted gift is normally one which is directed to a specific purpose, e.g., a Scholarship Fund, Building Fund or Endowment Fund.
