Extended Learning
The Extended Learning portfolio provides students with opportunities to increase their learning in the Co-curricular classes and clubs after school.
Programs provide students with a wide variety of options from curriculum-related areas such as Art, STEM, TAS and Health, as well as special interest fields.
In addition to classes, Extended Learning offers students the chance to join several clubs at Pymble where students can collectively discuss ideas, topics and subject matter in a safe and stimulating environment.
Activities On Offer
Practical art classes for Junior School students to explore their creativity and expand their artmaking skills.
Hosted by Conde Library, Book Club focuses on students coming together to discuss and recommend books from a wide range of themes and genres.
Using our hospitality kitchen, the Brew Crew develop a basic understanding and art of making espresso coffee with a focus on practical experience.
Cattle Team is available to students in Secondary School to learn livestock-handling skills, livestock care and junior judging skills at the Agricultural Plot at our Pymble campus. The team has had many successes over the years, competing at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Upper Beef Bonanza and Castle Hill Show.
Ceramics lets students explore their imagination and extend and develop their creativity using clay. Ceramics gives students the opportunity to work with their hands to design and create functional or sculptural forms. A variety of ceramic techniques will be taught to create fantasy and functional artworks.
Students in Years 2 to 10 have the opportunity to learn how to code, focusing on Scratch, Java, Python and Unity.
Farm Club is an opportunity for our Junior School students to explore the workings of the Agricultural Plot. They will get their hands dirty and learn about flowers and horticulture, animal handling and animal care techniques.
In the Food Technology kitchens, the Kitchen Whiz classes teach students how to safely prepare and cook a variety of delicious recipes. Students learn the basics of using the kitchen, preparing classic dishes, exploring current food trends and cooking for special events such as Christmas and Easter.
A wonderful hands-on, creative course that teaches not only the fun parts of creating and making, but also core business skills. Each week students make non-toxic, wholesome and natural health and beauty products. The educational element is incorporated in such a fun way that the students are learning to identify their niche products and how the supply chain works, all whilst enjoying and personalising their own creations.
Working on stretched canvas, students learn the skills and techniques of oil painting.
Robotics provides opportunities for students to become active problem solvers and to engage in their own learning. It’s a fun way for students to develop 21st-century STEM skills and will provide your daughter with the time, space and purpose to tinker with robots, solve open-ended problems and bring their ideas into reality. Pymble students participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), FIRST Tech Competition (FTC), VEX and First Lego League (FLL).
Smart Cookies is part of our co-curricular TAS program where our Year 6 students have the opportunity to utilise the Secondary School kitchens and learn to bake.
Stitch and Create is an exciting series of classes where students dive into the world of stitching and your imagination knows no limit. Set free your creativity as we explore recycled and repurposed materials with fresh, vibrant textiles.
Totally Textiles assists students in the development of textile skills in the construction of a range of student selected, simple projects. Students are individually led through the creation of their chosen projects.
Yoga classes provide all-encompassing mindfulness practice.
