Hockeyroos up close for one of our Boarders
Year 11 Boarder and representative hockey player Sydney (Syd) was lucky enough to be part of the Hockeyroo and Kookaburra magic recently as the athletes trained in Darwin before setting off for the Tokyo Olympics.
Syd welcomed the opportunity to spend time on the fields and learn from the Olympians. Syd was also invited to attend the farewell ceremony at Parliament House. The highlight of the week, however, was the opportunity to interview Brooke Peris. Peris, a forward for the Hockeyroos, has been Syd’s hero since she started playing hockey. In her hometown of Darwin, Syd would stand on the sidelines and watch Peris train. It was here that Syd discovered her love for the sport and to meet Miss Peris in person was a real treat. To add to this honour, Syd was given an Australian training uniform which we are all looking forward to seeing on her return to Pymble.
