Age National Diving Championships – Brisbane

It was with great delight that the National Age Championships went ahead Monday 12 April to Saturday 17 April in Brisbane. This was a fantastic opportunity for the divers to compete at a National Level, and most importantly, to experience the camaraderie and friendship of being part of a team.

It was a huge week with extensive training, multiple competitions, with some having a start list of 35 divers and being two to three hours duration. Such events require intense preparation both physically and mentally and we commend all the divers and coaches.

Congratulations to our Pymble/Diving Connections divers who, as part of the NSW team, competed with sportsmanship, skill, courage and grace and achieved the following fantastic results. It was an honour to be part of such a dynamic team which contributed to the overall result of NSW being named State of the Year.

Ilaria Crowley (Year 8)
14 to 18 Years Synchronised with Sabrina – 10th
14 to 18 Years 1m Springboard – 8th, 3m Springboard – 13th, Platform – 8th

Sabrina Mulhearn (Year 8)
14 to 18 Years Synchronised with Ilaria – 10th

Mea Shires (Year 7)
13 Years and Under Synchronised – 2nd
12 to 13 Years 1m Springboard – 2nd, 3m Springboard – 4th, Platform – 5th

Amélie Rahme (Year 3)
Amélie was the youngest competitor in the Age Nationals. In the Synchronised diving event, Amélie and her partner were only four points away from a medal. This is a fantastic result for such a young age and first National Championships.
